How big is your stash, hoarders?

This hoarding just amazes me. I have never been compelled to hoard. I keep 2-3 OC's and maybe a few more only if I find a screaming deal. People with a 10-15-20 year supply of oil will miss out on later classifications of oil. I am sure a number of hoarders have SJ and SL oils still stored up, maybe even some SH. What a waste. I don't even want SM and SN.
What about the fact that it looks like reformulations are going to be occurring with non-group III for a while to cover supply issues? See the Oil Industry news thread on that one. I'd like to circumvent that if I can, so I have 2 years worth or so.

Those of us who kept a supply on hand don’t have to worry about the temporary reformulation…

Just as those of us who bought ammo when it was cheap, don’t have to worry about political events causing major changes in pricing and availability.

Basically a non issue with SL or above.

I never used to have a huge oil stash, but with the base stock supply issues, and $8 jugs of 5w30 at Walmart, I might have gone slightly overboard recently....

Awfully judgmental of you. You assume people have just one car, like you. You assume people with a dozen cases of oil have 15-20 year supply.

But that isn’t true. I’ve got six cars. Plus I work on the kid’s cars on occasion. Let’s walk through the math:

Packard - 8
V70R - 6
SL600 - 10
S600 - 10
Tundra - 8
XC90 - 6

Kid’s cars, 3 Volvos at 6 each.

Annual changes - 66 quarts.

So, if I’ve got 5 or 6 cases of oil - that’s not hoarding, it is simply one change.

Hardly hoarding. In fact, if I have a dozen cases of oil, and a dozen filters, I have fewer changes on hand than you.

Which makes you the relative hoarder, doesn’t it?
Awfully judgmental? Seriously? You call me "Awfully judgmental" for simply expressing an opinion on a subject that's openly discussed? Using that criteria, then every single poster here, including yourself is "Awfully judgmental" because everyone here expresses their opinions.

Additionally I don't assume "everybody just owns one car". I would think the vast majority have two or three. You are a far outlier with six plus vehicles. If you want to do math, do some simple research first:

The average U.S. household owns 1.83 to 2.28 vehicles. Nationally, roughly a third owns one, 36% owning two, and 22% owning three or more.

I mostly didn't intend to build up a stash, just stocked up when on sale. Most of it is $8 and $12/gal Delo 5w40 XSP. I did stock up on 0w40 Mobil Euro for the shortage, to take care of friends and family not in a position to stock up. 5w40 XSP is basically the perfect universal oil, 0w40 Euro nearly so. They definitely won't go to waste.

Completely sat out the Covid TP wars too. We buy TP by the case and keep an entire unopened case in addition to the current in-use case. Just two of us, two cases easily saw us through. There's a reason we buy that way.

Edit: I also wouldn't call a completely reasonable stock of things that are known to be in short supply soon a hoard at all. I like my guns loaded, phone charged, fuel tanks full, fridge and pantry stocked, etc. If that makes me a hoarder, so be it. I'd post the "your boos mean nothing, I've seen who you cheer for" meme here but I'm pretty sure it's copyrighted.

I did some stocking up via deals or pre price increases for changes on three vehicles the past few months once it became apparent a price increase and possible shortage was coming. Currently have the below. lt leaves me good for a while and to help out friends and family if needed. Oil change intervals on three different port injected engines will be at least 7,500 to 10k miles using these oils.

13 quarts of QS Euro 5w40
15 quarts of Castrol Edge Euro 5w40
15 quarts Mobil 1 0w30 ESP
5 quarts Mobil 1 Euro 5w30
10 quarts Valvoline Extended Protection 0w20
10 quarts Castrol GTX FS 5w30
15 quarts Castrol Edge HM 5w30
8 quarts Supertech Advanced HM FS
15 quarts Castrol Edge EP 5w30
10 quarts Supertech HM FS 5w30
