This is probably striking the perfect balance. A few oil changes worth of oil and filters, nothing crazy. I think oil filters and air filters will remain available they're just getting wiped out guilt by association right now.

I appreciate the OCD of buying the spare quart too. Don't want to have any left over.
On a whim I checked our Walmart for some 0W-30, though I have a jug now. There was none, nor was there 0W-20. I panic bought a jug a Full Syn Valvoline 5W-30 to have on hand.
My Sienna can use the 1 jug of Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20 I have, so I’m good for a year or so, as the next change is a free 10k mile Toyota service. I’m 1500 miles into the 5000 mile service I did on my own.
I may check and see what I can find today. I’d like to have another 0W-20 on hand so the Jeep and the Sienna have 2 changes on the shelf.
I’m not normally a hoarder, but I have 3 jugs on my shelf.

Last night I told my son to buy new tires now rather than wait until June like he’s planning.
I posted this in another thread but figured this would be a good place for it since we aren’t to post new threads concerning supply chain issues. Just a FYI for those considering stocking up a bit.

Honestly man that's kinda messed up, it would a decade to go through all that. I'm buying enough to get me through 2027, I feel that is practical and leaves some for the next guy.

You don't know how many vehicles that person maintains, how many miles they drive, or how they came across their stash.
Lots would think my stash of 5w40 XSP is ridiculously excessive, but it had nothing to do with this shortage.
Totally kidding guys, this is from a few years ago when Walmart had a pricing glitch and they actually delivered all the oil I ordered. I have 6 jugs of oil plus filters in my stash, nothing more. Definitely not trying to make the current situation worse.

Decided to add to my insanity and last night ordered four each 5 quart jugs of Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 and take advantage of the $10 per jug rebate (max $40), and went to Walmart.com. They said not available online, but can order and pick up, from a store I would be passing by today...so rolled the dice and of course a couple hours before pick up..."out of stock". LOL They do this everytime...they have no clue what is on the shelf.Never had this much on hand before, but everyone here is saying prices are going to go up.

Actually, after reading about the recent information on lighter oil shortages, particularly the 0w20 and lower, i added to my stash, ordered 2 4-quart jugs and a extra quart (oil change w/filter is 4.4 quarts) of Amsoil Signature 0w20. I'm still checking Walmart for Mobil 1 M1-110A filters. I'd like to try some Microgard Select MSL51356 but the nearest O'Reilly is about 100 mile round trip, guess i could call a see what they charge for shipping. Kinda nice having 2 cars that both use the exact same oil, cabin and intake filters.
Was going to order some Valvoline Restore and Protect today, but they're OOS on Walmart for 5w-30. Think I might get a jug of the Mobil 1 Advanced Clean. Or I might go for Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Not trying to hoard, just having one on hand for the next oil change in a few months. Assuming this shortage clears up in 10-12 months, having one on hand should have me covered.
