Was on Amazon getting some parts for my grandfather's Jeep and noticed the Motorcraft air filters were $2.00 so I ordered 3 of them (the Jeep lives a dusty life). It's an FA-1787

Are they decent? Hopefully they haven't been sitting in a warehouse for like 10+ years.

For $2, they are probably old. Otherwise they are good when new, but probably made in Mexico. I can buy fresh, made in USA Purolator air filters locally. Unlike their oil filters, Purolator air filters don't tear.

Yep! For a Ford OEM filter for Ford vehicle they did not fit the airbox that well and they did not filter as well as NAPA Gold filters (WIX) do. The cost for the NG was the same (perhaps slightly less) and so it was a no brainer for me. I have switched to using NAPA Gold air filters in all of the vehicles I own and service. Of course, YMMV!

As with every application it varies, you will want to check the fitment of every filter no matter the brand. The Motorcraft filter always seemed fine for the Vulcan Taurus

I bought a Fram for the forester and it was so warped that I couldn't close the airbox. It was overmolded in a hard plastic. Now the FRAM I got for my Nissan is fine - its a skinned resilient foam overmold. SO I would agree your results would be app specific and maybe varies with OE. I didn't like a WIX I got for my Yaris. An I would not buy a CHINA sourced Puro-much-lator AF I was looking at in a big box auto parts store (VIP maybe?)

Also be ware of FAKES. Most all delco stuff in the 90s from non GM autoparts stores was fake.

I don't know about JEGS, but some vendors charge the $5.99 shipping per item, vs per order. Carefully check your final price before you hit the purchase button.

I've noticed some random motorcraft parts being VERY cheap on amazon lately. I just ordered a fuel filter and it was $2 as well. Was a new filter not some old stock. Nice score

If it's anything like the fuel filters I use in my Escort, the Motorcraft filters are worth getting just for the stainless steel casing. One less rust problem on the car!

The air filter doesn't interchange with anything on a Ford. Always found that strange.
Yeah I don't get it either.

My brother bought a Motorcraft fuel filter for his XJ on Amazon

Can anybody tell me how old they are? They feel fine, not brittle.

Well atleast mc list some kind of filtering ability. I think they state atleast 98%. So i assume its probably greater than 98%. No actual micron rating on any air filter that im aware of.
