House passes bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent

Great, now lets see if it happens.
I remember when it was tried in1974 and quickly abandoned. Kids were standing on the side of the road in the freezing cold and dark and school buses were running the complete morning route in the dark.
School starts too early. I think my HS homeroom time was 7:25 AM. Ridiculous.
The solution would be to simply start the school day later all year, which would be a school board question.
Daylight saving time change is a proven menace to health and welfare in general - more car accidents, reduced sleep, spike in heart attacks.
I wouldn’t have to get up as early for morning hunts during archery season. Sounds great.

Reality is it does not make a bit of difference to me. Fact is sunrise and sunset times are going to change throughout the year regardless of what the clock says. The 23.5 degree tilt of earths axis while orbiting the sun insures that.

Isn't sunrise in Phoenix around 5:30 AM right now? Because Arizona doesn't observe DST.
Having year round DST here in DFW would result in 8:30 AM sunrises in peak winter

Who’s insuring that? State Farm? Progressive? Erie?
And 9:10 am here in west Michigan. School starts around 7:45 am, which means bus pickup around 7'ish.

Wondering if those who operate and maintain large antique clocks (like historical/restored court houses) will welcome this - those 3rd party folks - maybe not so much …
To be honest, I'd be shocked if they manage to even do this.

In northern states, especially farther east in their time zone, kids will be waiting for buses in pitch darkness. Then the bus will kill a few kids, and then everyone will lose their minds over this.
Complaining about this is a sign of how society is just bored with itself.

I don't get it.
If it is always the same and we just move the clock forward by 1 hour permanently, it would just eventually make everyone work the same way regardless of the sun shining at what time of the year, and eventually people will fall back to a biologically comfortable schedule. Like Spain eat lunch at 2-4pm and dinner after 9pm and breakfast served from 9am till 12pm.
What is the point then, might as well just cancel daylight saving time.

I lived in W Virginia in 1963 when daylight savings time was yes or no county by county. Really messed up! You had to know what county your September high school away game was in to show up on time. I missed a movie or store visit because of a county line crossing in my summer there.
