I recently purchased a portable sawmill powered by a 20 HP Honda 2 cyl gasoline engine. I placed an order for an hour meter/tachometer to keep track of running time for maintenance purposes. When I received the meter which just has an induction pick-up wrapped around the spark plug cable, is stated on the package that it was for one or two cylinder engines without an oil filter. Does anyone have any idea what the presence of an oil filter would have to do with the applicability of an induction hour meter? I am quite puzzled by this.

possible its a way to decribe a two cycle engine to customers that wouldn't know the difference? if your just interested in the hour function it won't matter if you have the right pulse. Is it a tiny tach?

I have a Kohler 15Hp on my sawmill- came with MiniTach/ hr/rpm meter and yes the Kohler has an oil filter. It has induction pickup oil filter should have no bearing on operation. Mine in operation for 7 yrs now.

I will be purchase a mower soon & have just purchased a string trimmer. I need specifics for purchasing & installing a hour meter for these two items. Any guidance?
