Honda walk behind Lawnmowers

I have been running a Honda HRR216 with the 160cc consumer motor since 1998. The 2 blade system works excellent for mulching. The clippings are very fine and disappear into the lawn as I mow. In spring and fall I switch to a single blade for improved bagging.

I have 1/2 acre lawn and I have had no issues with the Honda engine. I am currently using Amsoil 0W40 but prior to finding this site the mower got whatever conventional oil I had on hand for an annual change.

Cool!....Old lawnmowers that still run like a champ have allot of character! If only everything we bought refused to die like these old mowers. I was looking through my father in laws owners manuals, and saw he had an Craftsman walk behind he bought in 1972, it cost close to 200.00 back then! He used it untill 1998, not sure why he retired it, but I dont believe it was because it quite running.

I have a Honda mower I bought in the Spring of 1989. It's self propelled with an aluminum deck and the overhead valve engine. Durable and reliable as all get out.
Also as heavy as all get out!
The Honda engines on the other brands of mowers are the overhead cam type.
I asked my Honda dealer about them and he said they are good but they are a throwaway engine. When they are done, they're done he said.
I guess my engine is rebuildable, but by the time it's worn out it will be really old.
