honda transmissions bad?

Well the original fill hole is buried down in there too, at least on the Pilot. I guess maybe I'm more innovative than most, it really isn't a big deal to refill through the, yes it's small, dipstick tube. Certainly not difficult in the whole scheme of auto mechanics

If it's like the filter used on most Japanese transmissions, you don't really need access to it..it's just a metal screen. If it plugs up, the transmission's probably on it's way out anyway.

I'm glad to hear that. My mom's new car is a 2004 Chevrolet Classic (same as the 2003 Malibu) with the 2.2L Ecotec. They use the 4T45E transmission in that car--I believe the 2.2L Ecotec is normally used with the 4T40E (which has a lower torque rating than the 4T45E).
