I got the car used with 49k on it in November '20. PCV changed June '21 as I was burning a bit of oil, not sure exact qty. I'm now at almost 114k and 3.5 years later. I just added some oil 1/2qt to keep it topped off. That makes it 1 full qt in 2700 miles since last change. All acceptable by manufacturers standards but I don't like it. I also attribute to driving style and this being a 6MT that gets revved out accordingly.

I see some light weeping from valve cover gasket also but a bit more on passengers front corner. I'll probably tackle that one of these months when it warms up a bit. At the same time I'm figuring the valves need to be checked/adjusted but I've never done that, looks easy enough just need a new tool and some new feeler gauges.

I watched a couple videos and same comments on line. This thing doesn't "rattle/shake" like all the ones I've done prior on other cars. Up/down it is barely audible, side to side you hear a lot more. I recall first time I changed it that it was the same and the one that came out. I bought this from Amazon (could be fake) but has all the Honda part#'s on bag and part. This is the part I bought and seller. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KTL3MJG?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_dt_b_fed_asin_title_0_0 . I might need to go to Honda and get right from parts dept. At least I'll have for next time.

Is there anyway to test this? If I try blowing and sucking through the different parts, there is a little resistance one way but still flow, other way totally free flow. The metal ones I've tried in past pretty much shut fully if you went against the plunger/spring.

There are manufacturer car dealers on Amazon and eBay with terrific discounted prices...you just need to make the effort to find them.
I buy many oem parts from Amazon and eBay but only from an oem dealer seller. Other independent sellers are way too risky.

The pictures above look like a legit part and packaging, with the exception of the label. Why would the label state the part is "New". Do Honda dealers sell used parts? I could see they might label "remanufactured" when appropriate on a starter or alternator.

That label is one that Amazon sticks on it's items for identification in their warehouse. Have seen that a lot on anything I buy from Amazon.

Hondapartsnow lists the part at $36 vs the $21 in your link:

https://www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~valve~assy~pcv~17130-5a2-a01.html

Everything that goes on the Hondas in my fleet are from a dealer-direct source, just too many knock-offs to worry about saving a few bucks and fretting over its authenticity as others have mentioned.

For the difference in price above its well worth it to me to order from HPN when I know I will need something, if its an emergency I'll head to my local dealer. My $0.02.

Shipping and tax that I just put in for estimate makes it $47.59 from HPN.

The Amazon label is over the regular Honda type label with part#. You can see it from the back clearly. I didn't take that picture.

I'll have to call a couple local Honda and Acura dealers to inquire. When I bought other stuff, Acura local was cheaper than the Honda dealers and cheaper than HPN once shipping added.

It could be a genuine Honda part. I've ordered Honda parts from Amazon before and they weren't fake. it was sold/shipped by Amazon. I bet you have the real part, but definitely do your research and make sure.

If you want quality these days you have to pay $36 for a $2 piece of plastic!
Unfortunately you are very correct. A PCV valve (yep-plastic) even Honda oem one is cheap plastic is still gonna run someone at the very least a few over $50 if purchased at dealership (even they must order since they keep very little in stock on hand any more). I assume they all do this to avoid any kind of bulk/product/parts stocking tax fees?

"...I buy many oem parts from Amazon and eBay ..." Even for the Ferrari????

No way to prove just talking on BITOG BUT it actually does in fact look just like the oem PCV valves. Only difference is some have yellow where this one has red. All else looks identical to factory installed valves.

In all honesty the majority of PCV valves are totally SIMPLE parts. Kind of cheap (well they used to be like everything else!)

Very little to go wrong with them and they are quite simple to manufacture. Thing about this simple part is if they
do malfunction on someone and go unchecked........ headaches and chasing of apparent gremlins can be a big result.

All sorts of things from oil leaks to sudden oil use to even possible "check engine" light due to improper 02 sensor results
from malfunctioning PCV. Hard to believe that little piece of plastic can affect so much. Lots of folks ignore the PCV and
luck out and get by but on some engines , one will not get away with that.
Most of them can be easily checked. Most can be simple to remove. Once out, then put to a good cleaning to correct any issues.
Use of good chemical cleaners like carb or intake cleaner, break cleaners or even mafs cleaner will work well.
In the case of the plastic I would use steam / soap and water. Cleaners like Simple Green or Super Citrus will work well.
Then check for function. Air leaks or finding your valve is not a total shut off indicates a worn ball or internals and that valve
should be replaced.

My original in the Accord one was red also. Highly doubt it was swapped out before I bought the car used.

Closest Honda dealer - in stock = $71.70
Acura 1 minute from there - order - $65.12
Honda opposite direction but still only 10 minutes - in stock - $56.02

HPN - $47.59 shipped
Conicelli Honda - shipped - $41.68

Plugging in parts and shipping on Bernardi and some other Acura and Honda Parts sites = up to $50+ for the valve AND $19 shipping.

It will be here next week from Conicelli Honda out of PA.

I'll compare the air flow scenarios when I get the new one and then also on old when I replace it. Maybe even cut it open.

When I picked up my 06 Acura TL 3 years ago I replaced the PCV valve. Every person on the forums said to buy the $50 OEM one from the dealer. I then proceeded to buy the $8.00 one from Autozone. It lasted 11,000 miles before it started leaking oil. I now have the Honda one in my engine bay. That Amazon one is fake for sure.

Things must be good at Honda they are in talks with Nissan to merge! The things that happen when you lose site of producing good products!

New one from Conicelli Honda looks just like Amazon one, parts bag and all. Trying to inhale and exhale through both, blocking different holes on it seems the same. They also match the Amazon one from a couple years ago I just took off and replaced except those smells/vapors/carcinogens on the old one.

I like the metal or even plastic rattle ones. This one just confuses me and my senses.

Old one twisted easy and came out easy. New one got lubed up O-rings and installed. Less than 10 minutes even getting my tools out and putting them away.

I bought a PCV from the same seller off of Amazon a couple of years ago. Note that the seller is located in Japan - I think that is a good sign.

I believe the PCV from Amazon is the same as the part you can get from a local Honda dealer. Reviewers also think it's genuine.
