Honda Passport Trailsport

I thought about getting the '26 Passport, but went with the '25 Pilot Elite. TBH, the more I learn about the J35Y8 engine, the more I wish I hadn't. Not sure what I would have gone with though.
Yeah I’m at the “show me the better new option” point… I’m planning on a new pilot this year. Liking the new ash green/brown combo.

They don't look bad. but not a real off roader at all. Also noticed the tow hooks are horribly low and stick out, ruins the approach angle. but probably okay for what it is.

You are welcome to check out https://www.passportforums.com/ where I am an administrator. One of the top complaints of the Honda sensing safety system is false activations of the CMBS (pre-collision braking) in all sorts of different circumstances. Almost every time I drove my Honda Passport I would get false alerts and activations of CMBS for no apparent reason.

You can tell me this is anecdotal but this is commonly reported among owners of the 2019-2025 generation Honda Passport and that is what I'm referring to because I drove one personally for over 80,000 miles over the course of 4 years and had this happen to me on a regular basis as have countless others.

Yes you are correct, I do not possess a time machine in which I can time travel back to that instance where I hit the deer in my Honda Passport and instead be driving my 2025 Subaru Outback Wilderness which had not been produced yet to measure the responsiveness of the Subaru in that specific instance.

That being said, there were too many things about the Honda sensing safety system which did not inspire confidence in me in the same way that the Subaru eyesight safety system has since I began using it in 2016. Many people I know who have driven both have similar sentiments, YMMV
Can the Honda system be turned off (or disabled)?

On my Ridgeline, which I assume is very similar, it can be “dumbed” down. I have mine on the lowest setting and it helped a ton! I don’t get any unnecessary alerts since doing that.

Car Care Nut gave this Passport a 10/10 rating. I guess this is one vehicle Honda is doing correctly.

NA V6, I-VTM4 vs a 4Runner with a Turbo 4 and partime 4wd.

Only issue I see with it is it has cylinder deactivation and a timing belt, if you consider those problematic.

You can get mid/upper 20 mpg.

I think Honda did well on the 25 Passport. NA V6 and 10 speed auto. Nice powertrain. Good AWD system. It gets good write ups. It's not a true off-roader though due to limited ground clearance and gear rations. But for on road/bad weather it's a great choice.

I think this is a good alternative to the 4-Runner. Another surprise SUV that is really good is the Bronco Sport Badlands.

I LOVE the way they intentionally made it look like a 1990s vehicle. However, the front wheel drive and lack of any off pavement ability whatsoever turns me away.

Honda Link was a complete cluster in my 25 Accord.... various tech issues and a fried USB fiasco as delivered..
I like adaptive cruise but the system was funky and got paralyzed when I went around big trucks as it would reduce speed on the pass and then accelerate after the pause like a F18..

Not fan of Hondas infotainment or even the word....

The I-VTM4 version 2 AWD is very good. I agree though, it needs at least a 2" lift. Useless off-road. Good for on road bad weather though.

Yep I'm just adverse to vehicles that are primarily FWD because the packaging makes them a nightmare to work on. Also, the lack of articulation with vehicles like this kills them off road. The suspension travel is non-existant.

But yes, for a daily driver on pavement I love what Honda has done here. I'd buy one for the wife in a heartbeat.

It's kinda funny that Honda put out this Trail edition but it's literally useless off-road due to the low ground clearance lol. They botched that up for sure. 😁 🤦‍♂️

I am not a Honda fan, everyone knows the only one I like is the Prologue because it's a GM.

BUT the Passport is an awesome looking vehicle. Too bad a hybrid option isn't available.

Tesla needs to learn something. Build something the shape of a Passport with the tech from the Cybertruck! I guess that's called the Rivian R2, but no dynamic ratio steer by wire is a bummer :(

I'd like to see Telsa make an R2 looking SUV.

The Passport is a nice SUV and one of the last not using a turbo 4 cyl.

I think they do that on purpose as they don't want you to abuse it...
