I’m considering buying a 2025 Honda NT1100 DCT. Does anyone have a Honda with a DCT?

I’m curious on your ownership experience? I have put 14K miles on a 2024 KTM 790 Adventure in the last year or so. I’m considering buying a sport touring bike as an alternative for long cross country touring which is my favorite type of riding.

I had a NC700 DCT years ago and I liked it alot. I found the DCT to be a great transmission and mine was an early one. I imagine they are even more refined today.

I've ridden my buddies Goldwing which has a DCT transmission. He likes it a lot. I was less enthusiastic. See if you can test ride one at a demo day or similar.

My 2010 Honda VFR1200 has a DCT.
It's fantastic!
Much different than conventional setup (obviously), but in a good way as it allows you time and concentration to focus on other aspects of riding.
I really think I've been spoiled by it...it's that good!

I own a 2022 Honda Goldwing with the DCT transmission. I could not be happier. My bike has various transmission modes (tour, rain. economy, and sport). The sport is too aggressive for me, and I almost always use the tour mode. I love the fact the DCT allows me to focus on riding. It may not be for everybody, but I doubt I will personally go back to a manual transmission.

One needs to spend some time with a DCT to fully appreciate and understand them to the fullest. I don’t know how long your ride was, but it takes more than just a ride or two to suss it out. They’re great.

I just bought my first DCT, 2025 NC750X. The sport mode held on to the gears a little too long for me. I found a happy medium with my user 1 profile between standard and sport.

Try to test ride one, if they won’t let you test ride the NT, ask to test ride a Rebel 1100 DCT. The NT is a bargain at $11,890.

I've ridden it a bunch of times. Tried all the modes. I'm just not enamored with it. I mostly ride it when my friend wants to ride one of my bikes, so we switch bikes for awhile. But like I said, he likes it, so that's what matters.

I test rode the 2018 Goldwing DCT when it first came out and if I were to buy one, I would get the DCT for no-nonsense touring. My buddy traded his 2018 manual GW in on a new 2025 GW DCT and couldn't be happier.

I recently replaced my 2012 Honda ST1300 with a 2024 Africa Twin and I decided against the DCT. My reasoning was that I actually like shifting. Everything else in my life is becoming automatic and I wanted the raw manual gearbox as a form of 'escapism'. So far, I am enjoying it and feel I made the right choice for what I wanted it for.

I considered getting the NT1100, but it wasn't available at the time I was ready to buy and I also wanted to explore more gravel and service roads.

My local dealer priced me a new NT at under 11k OTD and I’m very very tempted. I love the 790, but I never go off road, and I do mostly long distance riding.

I will ask them if I can take a test ride. I love the idea of the hard pannier and top box options and the bulletproof engine.

I agree.
My DCT bike is the only "automatic" machine I own.
Everything else is either a 5 or 6 speed manual.

The transmission is fantastic, but you have to ask yourself if you like to shift or not, what’s your preference? If you don’t care for shifting and using the clutch, Honda DCT will not disappoint and you will be happy with it.
But there is a learning curve to it, especially in slow maneuvers.

You can always use the paddle shifters to shift. Not quite the same as a full on manual transmission but close enough for a little bit of fun.

I've have not ridden one , but I'm tempted to try one out.
I have the manual shift version of the CTX700 , the guys on the CTX forum love theirs that are DCT equipped.

Here is a great review of the NT1100
