Good day!

I have Land Rover Defender TD5 and it calls for MTF 94 for the manual gearbox, MTF 94 is not available in my country so can I use this Honda MTF 08267-p9901zt1 in my Land Rover? Is this also MTF 94? I have tried to look it up but have not been able to find much info on the Honda MTF

Please help!

We can't look up the specs for the the specified LR oil either, most of us anyway. If someone could, likely they'd have chimed in. Ditto for the Honda MTF, though if you look up a poster MolaKule, you can find some specs on MTFs in general and he listed a bunch of specs for various products (I think some Honda oils but definitely not the LR). You need to know the basic viscosity the LR trans requires and whether it uses any sort of friction modifiers.

LR calls for MTF 94 which is close to GL-4 and 75W-80, and it is suppose to be a thin oil because LR has an oil pump in the manual transmission(R380 gearbox). Many companies make MTF-94, its just that its not available where I am. And it probably uses friction modifiers.

Charged,
I think a 75W-80 is a cSt fluid of 7-10. The range is quite wide. I believe the Honda MTF II fluid (available in the US beginning around 2006) and it is around a 7.0 cSt.

This is a chart that compares different types of automotive fluid so you can see for yourself:

I think you would be better off with a Pennzoil, GM or Chrysler Synchromesh fluid ... or Amsoil MTF/Red Line MTL.
