Honda Masters HR215 - Battery is shot.

I don't know the rest of the alphabet soup after the HR215???? model number but mine is the fully loaded one with the blade stop and also the electric start. As of now the charging system works, and so does the starter. BUT my battery is shot. I do not want to buy a new one as I like to pull start it. Can I leave it go or will this burn up the rectifier / stator?

I would remove the battery so it doesn't sulphate and corrode any cables/wiring.
