Didn't get to it today. I was on call for work and got called in this morning to track down a problem they were having. Was there till noon. Then had a birthday party for my 3 year old nephew that was a 2hr drive away. Full day.

I'm hoping she can bring the car over next weekend before the weather gets too narsty. I have a small garage but it gets too cramped for this kind of work - even on a Civic.

FowVay is right, according to the Honda Civic EJ6, EJ7, EJ8 (96-00) factory service manual, the pulley bolt should be tighten to 14lb-ft+ 90º

mormit:
Two things to watch out for, don't lose the tiny woodruff key on the pulley and cover up the hole where the oil dipstick tube goes while you are changing the water pump to avoid coolant flowing into the oil pan.

I changed the timing belt on a 95 Accord last year. It had a manual transmission. I had to have a friend jam the flywheel with a pry bar. I placed a floor jack under the engine oil pan to keep the engine from rotating on its mounts. I used a 17 mm 6 point impact socket, 1/2 inch drive flex handle with a 3 foot pipe over it and all my strength and weight (220 lbs) to break it loose. In my case turn left to loosen. I reinstalled the same bolt using a torque wrench.
