Picking up 2 bikes for my boys...

CRF 110 & 50.

Both require JASO MA.

I always rode 2 strokes so... new to the thumper side of things.

Anyway, GN4 10w30 is recommended but Maxima Synblend 10w30 is really close in price. Also looks like the Maxima is a much better product than GN4.

Any reasons besides warranty that I should stick with GN4?

It's illegal for a manufacturer to require you to use their oil. If they do, they have to give it to you for free. That's been established now for decades and decades. I'd be curious to see the wording in the Honda manual that leads one to believe they have to use GN4, as there should be some equivalency rating that is also stated as acceptable if they are on the up and up.

Thank you, folks, for the feedback.

Maxima it is then.

To be clear, I was not stating I had to use GN4... the operators manual failed to mention any other oil as an option.

Happy Thanksgiving!
