I meant to ask do I need to actually take the float off or do I need to just jiggle it around a little bit. Sorry I meant to ask this in my other question but I had a brain [censored]. It's been a long day.

Same thing happened with my Craftsman. It was new at the time, but the stuck float drained the gas tank. Removed bowl, cleaned it or something and the problem hasn't reoccurred years later.

Given your lack of knowledge about OPE engines based upon the question you asked yesterday and again today, I would suggest you bring it to have it fixed under warranty.

Agreed. Honda has a warranty for a reason. I think once you tear into it, it will be on your dime if anything develops after the fact.

What I was trying to get at yesterday is why this happened and I didn't express my question clear enough. Obviously the float is stuck open some how but out of the 10 or so carbed engines I've had over the years never once have I had this happen after shutting off an engine. It's always been because it sat forever and the fuel gummed up. Also they certainly don't start up on the first or second try each time. Do they sit in the warehouse with gas in the carb bowl? I didn't smell any gas in the tank before I put some in it for the first time.

Just an update. I took the bowl off and moved the float up and down and it quit leaking after that. Hopefully it was just a fluke and won't happen again. Glad I didn't take it in.

+1 on that needle and seat. New fuel line throws off small pieces of rubber from being cut or from slipping over thick part of where it goes on. I had a brand new Mercury 2.5 HP boat engine that had a speck of rubber from the hose get stuck in the needle and seat and it could not stop the flow of fuel after the engine was shut off. You have to remove the needle and use carb cleaner to blow out the seat and hole that the needle goes in. In a pinch WD-40 or some other similar product with a hose and spray could be used to spray out the seat and hole.

Just for future reference Honda has some pretty good videos on their website/youtube channel on various topics including generator maintenance, shutdown/start up and storage advice.
I'd really like to have one but wish they were available in larger sizes and at more competitive prices...

I've found a new problem with it though. I've noticed that after it runs for about 20 minutes and gets all warmed up it starts making this rattling sound. Like a metallic rattling noise. Not that noticeable since it's disquised by all the other engine noise, but it doesn't sound right. I find it odd that it doesn't start doing it until the engine runs for a while. It runs nice and smooth so I'm not sure if it's the engine. I can't quite pin point where it's coming from though. One thing I didn't try yet is to see if it still does it when I take the load off of it.
