Honda Filters

I run the wix in my sig with good results. Our dealer sells blue painted "fram" as a genuine honda filter, not the filtech. Do you have a S2000 - pcx-004? are those still filtech or OE Japanese?

Assuming a 2014 Accord takes the same filter as most other Hondas, there are two part numbers, one is a Filtech (which is the US arm of Toyo Roki) and a Fram filtration (FKA Honeywell), production of the Fram filtration moved from Canada to the USA.
The Filtech is the generally preferred by Honda aficionados filter although Honda themselves consider them interchangeable. The Fram is far more common in my experience.
There are cut opens of all these filters here, I personally have posted a couple of Honeywell A02's and a Filtech A01. Atleast one other poster has posted a USA made A02.
There is nothing wrong with either one although the A02 was tested at fairly low efficiency by Amsoil and the Filtech which is a design without end caps is not likely to be any better.
The Fram is similar to a Toughguard, although Honda specifies a different media.

I bought a Honda Care warranty 8 year/ 120k miles w/ $0 deductible for I think about $1195, but dont quote me. I called a dozen Honda dealers and College Hills Honda had THE BEST PRICE. Google them and it lists the warranty manager. She was very helpful, answered all my questions, and very quick to return phone calls and emails.
You can buy Honda Care warranty from any Honda dealer, not just the one you purchased your Honda from. As long as it has less than a certain amount of miles, it will qualify for "new car price".

Tokyo Roki also makes the Subaru OEM oil filters for my 2013 Outback 6-cylinder, which I'm currently running while under warranty.

You saying the Roki will crossover to the Honda? It should as most Japanese designs(Honda/Nissan/Subaru/Mazda) use a similar filter thread and base gasket ID/OD.
Ill stick with the wix and its WAY WAY superior base bypass system - even if it doesn't have a P-gasket.

skip the crush washers for the oil pan drain bolt. I just crossed 202K miles on my 04 Accord K24, and am on the original crush washer. Same with the trans crush washer. Replacing them is a needless exercise in... I don't know what

Honda always recommends that. Seen that on their motorcycles for decades; "replace washer and tighten drain plug" - I've never done it. Bought a spare once to carry around on my key-ring just in case - I've never had need for it. As long as you don't "crush" the crush washer to a point of splitting or grotesque deformation, it's never an issue. I'll never understand that about some ham-fisted gorilla installers. It's a drain plug; it's not under 100 PSI for goodness sake. No need to tighten with a 3/4" drive like it's a lugnut on an 18 wheeler ...
As for the OPs question about Honda filters; they are typically adequate to do the job, as evidenced by the bazillions of engines running dealer-serviced O/FCIs ... but then again, there are an equal amount of Honda vehicles running aftermarket filters with no issues. Leads one to the realization that perhaps angst over filtration is not as big an issue as some think.

OT It's funny how depending on where and when you read about a topic, an answer may be different. As regards crush washers, 'best practice' says or has said to replace them each time. So much so now that many cartridge filters include not only cartridge housing gaskets but crush washers in the box, Napa Gold/Wix is one such manufacturer. Same goes for some Honda spin on filters sold online, some come with the crush washers. Do I change the crush washer each time, not usually, but it will certainly never hurt to change them at least occasionally.
As for the Filtec A01 I believe you are referencing, some/many here seem to prefer them because of their construction to the Fram made A02. As for efficiency if that's a consideration, not much known, but if similar to other no end cap type filters and the A02, Likely not very efficient as compared to other readily available silicone adbv filters. But still, likely more than adequate.

My Honda washer is not a "crush washer" like on my Subaru - the Subaru needs a new one every oci - I haven't changed my Honda one yet after 4 oci, and its still shows good integrity.

For the 15400-PLM-A01A, I prefer the replacement oil filters made by Denso, Nippon and Union Sangyo. All are Asian made.
The crush washers the dealer near me are true crush washers, they are rolled Copper and hollow on the inside.
Used once, they are destroyed. You have to pick them off the drain plug base with a sharp screwdriver.
From what I gather, the OEM Aluminum crush washers are very soft, but they may be the ones people tout as "re-useable".
I'll order a baggie of aluminum ones next time I'm getting some air filters or something and try one out for a few OCIs.

there is another size TG that will fit... the filter is fatter but not a long and the holes are tiny... plus the 7317 looks like the Factory Honda Filter exactly.

For my veloster I used the same crush washer 7 times before I replaced the whole drain plug anyways. I didn't like the Hyundai drain plug. I got a drain plug with a rubber bushing molded to the plug and now I don't have to worry about replacing the washers everytime. After about 7 oil changes ill just go get a new drain plug and start over.
