I don't know anything about Honda's OEM air filters, but I recently just picked up a Purolator PureOne filter for my Grand Am GT. It replaced the K&N that I had in there. As far as the PureOne is concerned, I definitely like it. Deep pleats and the fitment in my airbox was perfect.

Just my .02.

BTW, it was only $12 for my application from Advanced Auto Parts.

I just ordered a Wix air filter for my Pilot online from Filter1 for $10. My local Honda dealer wanted $23 for a Honda brand replacement. Advance Auto wanted $14 for the regular Puolator (which didn't look as good as the Honda oem IMHO

) and did not offer the Pure1 in an air filter for my application yet. If the P1 was available I'd have given it a try based on what all the other P1 filters looked like...I thought they looked good.

Each to his own, but I've always found Wix air filters to be as good as or better than any other brand I've ever bought. I doubt the Honda replacement will be any different.

Hi,

I have 2005 CRV and Accord. I am about to change the engine air filters. Should I get OEM Honda filters (I have no idea who makes them from Honda) OR is there a particular brand that is good that you guys can recommend?

Thx

Filter1.com

It's been discussed in this section many times. Follow the links for their Online Ordering and Quote System.

It also been discussed many times that the most of the Japanese and Korean manufacturers use a unique high quality media in their expensive OEM filters.
And in most cases when you get a cheaper equivalent made by Purolator, Wix, or Fram you get a filter where the media would be of the generic quality found in the rest of the filters.
For the owners of the Japanese brands I would suggest to check out the STP brand filters first.
STP rebrands the air filters produced all over the world.
I often find the media quality of those filters to be very comparable to the OEM filters.

FWIW, the Wix filters arrived by UPS today from Filter1. I ordered an air filter and cabin air for both my Pilot and Camry, sight unseen. 1st time I've bought that brand for either vehicle. I thougth all 4 filters looked oem-caliber. Thick, firm filter material and strong housings complete with the unique Honda and Toyota edges that have foam seals. Fit perfectly. I'm one happy camper!

Prices at www.hondaautomotiveparts.com can be a little high. Since they're located in Rhode Island, the additional cost for the air filter I ordered was about 10 bucks plus shipping + a 4.95 handling charge (shipped to N. California). This made the total about $28. Getting from the local dealer would've been cheaper.
