01 civic non vtec
speced for 5w-20
100k on dino, semi synth, full synthetic
has developed an OCCASIONAL lifter tick on initial startup on hot days (use good filters too, purolator premium plus, or pure ones)

im not a big fan of 5w-20 mainly b/c i have trouble finding a decent selection in this weight. so would a 5w-30 or 0w-20 mobil one or 5w-30 castrol syntec work well in this application

The preferred oil is 5w20 and it will do great on that oil. However, if you run a quality 5w30 the engine will not blow up.

I'd say it depends on how you drive it. If you just cruise around then a 20 will do, but if you the beat the bejesus out of it then I'd go with the heavier 30. I'd use 0W either way just cause it's that little bit better on a cold start and it'll be good into the dead of winter if an OCI doesn't come up.

cool

my ford v8 is speced for 5w20 but i drive the **** out of that, usually within 500rpm of redline at least once a week. so ive been running 5w30 m1 in that

ill probably stick with the 5w20 gtx in the honda(shows good moly add pack)usually run that for 4k. currently its got some 0w-20 m1 i wanted to try out (buy get 3 free at pepboys). probably run that for 5-6k
