I did a brake job on the Accord over the long weekend. One of the two slide pins on each caliper has a rubber bushing at the tip. One bushing was swollen and kept sliding off in the bore, so I chucked it and inserted that pin naked. I drove the car over the next few days and felt an intermittent rubbing/clicking through the brake pedal. I picked up a new bushing after reading it is there to dampen possible brake NVH. After installing the new bushing and re-lubing the pin, the clicking's gone.

Not surprised. The folks that designed those brakes didn't add rubber bushings just for fun.

Important question is, did you put the pin with the rubber bushing in the correct position ? There seems to be no consistency so you have to confirm on a model (probably including the engine) by model basis. Hint: Check an online Honda parts supplier and look at the brake parts diagram.

I've found the outer pin bushings/bellows/boots (I forget the technical name) to be rather fragile on Hondas. They tore easily on my Honda Odyssey back when I owned one.

On my 04 Camry, the lower pin carries the bushing. Any of the Permatex brake goop colors will swell the bushing to where it is very hard to remove the pin. Use silicone grease.
