Honda air filter by STP said Filtech

The plastic housing was stamped with Filtech, but the filter said made in China.

Maybe a copy?

The filter had the area where Honda was on the old filter ground off the plastic.

I did not buy it but was just looking to see where the STP filter was made.

STP is a name used under license and does not manufacter any airfilter but subcontracts out the sourcing. Even the other brand name air filter like Fram and Purolator do not make every catalog part number and will rebox and swap between themselves to fill out a catalog line. Same thing happens with oil filters. My last STP airfilter for my Ford 5.4L was a reboxed and marked Fram.

The thing I thought was a bit funny was that I had the old filter with me, it said Filtech and then Honda.

The STP filter said Filtech on the plastic housing, and the area right next to this was ground off the plastic, where on the old filter was Honda.

Just wondered if this was a chinese copy of Filtech or indeed a Filtech made in China

The media appeared very similar, a fuzzy white media with 26 pleats.
