I have a Yardman push mower with a Honda 5.5 OTC engine. It currently has the 10W30 oil that came with the mower (MTD's private-label brand, I believe) in it. What would be a good brand/weight to replace it with?

And I'm fairly new to the lawn equipment forum, but 4-cycle oil differs from automotive oil, correct?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Reemoe, try searching this subforum by using the words: "Honda" or "5.5" or "OHC" and you'll find a few threads on this very subject.

Then, if you have something to say, please resurrect one of those threads.

Ryan - 4 cycle small engines use the same automotive crankcase oils as your car/truck.

The Honda GCV160 5.5hp requirement(from the manual) is an API grade SH,SJ oil which is any of the 10w30's or a straight 30HD commonly available at Walmart.
