Is this indeed the case with a 2006 Accord? Our 2008 CR-V has an oil filter mount that hangs the filter vertical on the back side of the engine (not like how they used to be). An '06 Accord may mount it vertical as well, I don't know.

WEll then do it again the right way or replace the bad valve.

Sorry, but a Honda K24 doesn't have hydraulic valve lifters.

I had a 3.0 v6 and 2.x 4 cyl honda.
the darn 4 banger would be quiet for couple of oil changes after valve adjustment and then start chattering again, drove me crazy.

Now I have a fit and a ridgeline, both have some level of noise.

I change oil at dealership and oil syn oil, 5w20 and still have noise.

Unless ur noise is really bad, go for a less restrictive oil filter, make sure your oil level is proper, use a thinner oil.

if you look through the oil fill cap does it look clean?

Yes it looks pretty clean, Im going to run Pennzoil Ultra next oil change though and that should clean up anything else. Oil has been changed with synthetic at 3000mi the last 4 changes though (using castrol syntec) so it should be clean anyway. What oil filter would be "less restrictive" in your opinion?

I have not bought oil or filter in years and with the divorce stuff going on, just drive down to honda for oil change.
I used mobil 1 or purlator (regular), pureone is very restrictive.
not sure what is out there now.
if you really concerned, buy one of those snake cameras, costco has one for $100,
drop the oil and snake through the drain plug and check the oil pick up,
post a vid of the noise pls, that will help us understand the severity of the problem,

Completely false. PureOne is not very restrictive.

did they change the pureone filters recently?
 
So when I went on lunch today at work, and just now as I was getting off work, my cars engine ticked both times. I got to work at 1:30 and started my car at 4:30 to go to lunch, it was a quiet tick. So it was 3 hours in between. Started it up to go back to work...quiet, no tick at all. Then at 9:30, 4 hours and 30 minutes later, it had a louder tick. Again ist just a single tick that lasts for about 3-5 seconds. Then goes right away. Starts in the morning have NO tick at all, has piston slap but no tick. This is driving me crazy. Does my car (honda k24 even have lifters that could tick? and its already had a valve adjustment at the dealer about 10,000 miles ago. Even if it is a valve or lifter, will this tick cause wear? and if it does would it show up in a used oil analysis? again it only ticks 3-4ish hours after the car has been driven. Its just a single tick too. Im lost, should i be concerned? I dont have money to get it checked out. Not trying to beat a dead horse hear...The engine should be clean after 16,000 miles worth of synthetic oil changes. IT ALSO TICKS with the rpm...when i start it up and it revs up to 1500 rpm the tick goes with it then slows down as the rpms go back down. Would a ticking lifter or valve cause any wear anyway? anything to be concerned about?

Idk, i had the belt tensioner and serpentine belt replaced already. Ive had the valves adjusted and use synthetic oil. What on earth could cause this. Its just frustrating. But really, would a tapping valve or lifter cause any damage? or just noise that hurts nothing?

Yeah, to be honest Ill get over it as long as it wont cause any wear....but would wear from lifter tick or valve tick show up in a used oil analysis? Or would valve or lifter tick even cause any wear at all?
