Here is the atf measure i made, so i am not guessing how much atf goes back in my rigs! Quick easy and free (after your done with your apple juice!).

Recycling in its purest form. I once made a similar device w/cut bottle & cutting of a worn out garden hose to cleanly catch all the coolant from my block drain plug. Worked like a charm.

Why buy tools you can make for free?

I use an empty plastic cat litter bottle that holds up to 8 quarts-marked off in 1/2 quart levels to measure ATF removed during my drain/fill operations- used a measuring cup and water to fill/mark the level lines

Why? Everyone used to love the fact that green GC smelled like gummy bears. Why not ATF that smells like apple juice?

thanks for the link!

i am not pouring the fresh fluid into the bottle and then into the vehicle. i am only using it to measure the old fluid, eyeball the amount and then pour the new fluid from its store bought containers into the transmission.

i also should add this is being used in a drain and fill operation.

I drive Mopars, so I'd need some of that HFM apple juice.

You need the four fruit type with added vitamines
hence the +4 designation. Also use only mopar specified fruits
and dont get the universal orange every one can drink type of juice.

Thanks, I'll look for some at the store!

Mike, your jug is a thing of beauty, but why?? 1gal jugs of ATF are already marked off with a site window and graduations. Just just pour back in what you took out. If you're w/in +/- 0.5qt you're good to go. I usually err on the + side.

i know! i have used 1 gallon atf jugs before but... they are very hard to read especially in low light conditions of my garage. and then you add in the fact that the thin sight strip in the side of the gallon atf bottle (if its even there) isn't always molded right from the discount blow mold machines (overlap). not to mention their quanity markers are sketchy and alot of times in ml's.

lately i have been boycotted buying atf in gallon jugs because i don't like 8 open pints left in an gallon jug for two or more years! i have been buying quarts so i can manage more of my inventory with sealed stock!

with my above apple juice creation i look down at it (in my poorly lighted garage) and i can tell exactly how much atf i need to poor in. Mike

Gotcha. I too won't buy gallon jugs unless I intend to use the whole thing during a drain/fill. I typically have an empty or 3 around to measure the drained out amount.

this seems especially handy for a car that doesnt have a dipstick. is that what it is intended for? or for when you disconnect radiator lines?
