Homelite Spark Arrestor

I have this old 2 stroke Homelite Leaf Blower, doesn't run well. Cleaned carb and still the same. Took off the spark arrestor and the engine runs without bugging down. So, now I found the culprit, how do I clean this spark arrestor? Thanks

I would use carb cleaner or brake cleaner to dissolve the carbon build up, soak it so you can light it on fire too, and keep it going with a propane torch to burn the carbon out. If that doesn't work, I would drill a hole through if you're not worried about a fire.

The arrestor screen in that muffler isn't much bigger than what you see through that port. Just hit it with a propane torch.

I've used propane torch on those but you may have to use some cleaner too depending.

Looks like majority says cleaning it with a propane torch. Hmm, I know I got a Benzomatic but needs a propane gas cylinder. Heading to Lowes or Home Depot tomorrow to buy one. Thanks for all the replies.

A butane lighter also works, just slower.

I usually do a spark arrestor delete for more power unless you plan on running it in a dry forest.
