Home component cd player

I haven`t shopped for home audio in a long time. What I`m looking for is a home audio component cd player that will play WAV,MP3,FLAC,and of course regular commercial cd`s. I`m using an old dvd player to play my MP3 audio cd`s and my ancient audio cd player won`t read those,it only reads commecially made cd`s.

Who,if anyone,makes a component player and/or player-recorder that will play all these different formats,and where`s the best place to shop for it? Thanks!

I don't know of any CD player that will play FLAC. As far as WAV - why even bother? It's basically the same as the CD audio material on a regular CD. So that leaves MP3 and maybe WMA support. Here is one option:

I was just faced with the same dilemma several months ago when my Kenwood unit died. There does not seem to be many options out there. I ended up with this:

We have been happy with it. It had the best overall reviews vs. the Denons and Onkyos that I looked at.

From personal experience, Sony transport has been the worst. Even the tiniest scratch or dirt spec on the disc would make it skip or freeze. My old Yamaha CD player on the other hand would read just about everything I threw at it, even if badly scratched.

like what I see RE: Oppo...I think I need to consider saving up my lunch money this year and get one (to see what the hubbub is all about).
