Hole in my gas tank. Dealership wants 700 bucks

Companies that sell aftermarket radiators typically also sell replacement gas tanks.

$700 for a gas tank and labor does not make sense to me.

One more tip for working around gasoline - for those who still use a drop light with an incandescent bulb (you youngsters bear with us dinosaurs) make sure you have the kind that have the rubber skin - otherwise, one drop of sweat or a finger fumble and you have a shattered glass bulb and a fire.

Well, I ordered a new gas tank. It's unpainted! I thought it would be painted black. Should I do the trailer park Krylon spray can. Or get it powdercoated or just find a shop to paint it?

spray with a self etching primer, a topcoat and yearly Carwell.

Are you sure there's not some sort of galvanized coating on it?

There might be some type of galvanized coating. I only have to paint it once. Only one snow day per year here.

Call up rock auto or the part manuf. and ask. That way you'll know for sure.
