I have a 99 Taurus se ohv, w/ 77k. I don't really loose any oil per say considering the dipstick level, but I am getting a burnt oil smell at moderate rpms and it seems like the valve cover gasket is the culprit since it is seeping little oil. Well considering the wear on my piston rings and seals and being the third owner (1st being some fleet company), I am interested in using Mobil Drive Clean Plus High Mileage, which has seal swell conditioner plus the benefit of synthetic blend (because I really want to go synthetic as much as possible).
I hear that everyone is downing the elasticity wear on seals with seal swell conditioners. So what do I do for high mileage oils and conditioners especially since I want to go as synthetic as possible.
BTW, there is a product called motorsilk from http://www.motorbond.com, which claims no ptfe or chlorinated parfins. Does this stuff foam up like lucas and not actually stick to the gears. And I would like to know if it would interfere with additives that help worn rings and seals like seal swell conditioners or others like auto-rx or Schaeffer's 131 Neutra
Ps. If motorsilk really works, than I might want to put it in my transmission and maybe combine with lube guard since lube guard is just a chemical to lower fluid temps, not lower the coefficient of friction like motorsilk. But if motorsilk is found to be a problem not a solution than for transmission, would you go with just lubegaurd?
Pss. If you guys think I should go with something like Schaeffer's 131 Neutra plus maybe a fully synthetic, instead of seal swell conditioners, than should I put Schaeffer's 131 Neutra with synthetic oil every oil change to prolong the life of my car like all these advertised High Mileage oils?
