HM OIL (GREEN BOTTLE OR RED BOTTLE??)

It's like Christmas time in my head trying to decide between Castrol GTX HM or Maxlife HM... All I see is red and green flashing lights, but I CAN'T decided! uuuugh!!
Everything leads me to beleive that Maxlife is better since it is a blend and from what I've read, flows a little better when cold as compared to GTX HM. But...I've always loved Castrol conventional motor oil over Vavloline conventional and thinking that GTX HM uses conventional GTX appeals to me. Yet, I can't help but think I may be making the wrong decision. I never hear to much about GTX HM, and wondered if any of you favor this over Maxlife for any reason and why?

I know Max-life is excellent. Max-life also makes Full Synthetic if you want a syn.

That your going for high mileage oil is commendable. Choice of brand is insignificant in that light. You are in the right ballpark at least. However, some of us really like Maxlife.

Plenty of Maxlife users....I don't see why we can't have someone who uses the Castrol product and keeps us informed with spec's and used oil analysis...I say run the Green Bottle!...

Read "Moly Basics" from the home page and decide if those qualities will benefit your situation. If yes, get the red bottle b/c Maxlife has this additive. Otherwise, use green bottle b/c you're loyal to Castrol, more likely to get same brand for future oil changes.

I have decided to compromise and use Mobil 1 High Mileage oil in the 10W30 weight. It is rated API SL, not SM, and has a pour point of -54C, and is NOT energy conserving. As someone said, a real manly oil.

I must admit that in keeping an SL spec, the Mobil 1 High Mileage is a better choice than Maxlife Syn, but that's not the whole picture.

Why did they call it Mobil 1, Mobil 1 Extended Performance, and Mobil 1 High Mileage? They could have simply called it Mobil 1, Mobil 2, and Mobil 3.
