Good afternoon to all that read this. I got off early on Tuesday. I was making my 5 mile drive from work to home. I was stopped at the intersection just outside from my apartment complex. I got the green light. Just as I was proceding thru the intersection an older women in an mid 90 Chevy Truck about 50 just decided to make an left turn right into my lane. I hit her right on her bed and wheel well. Of course rather than sit right there and face the music. She stopped for an second in front of an fast food joint. As I stopped to get out and get her information she just took off down the street. I drove thru the intersection once again to the nearest pay phone called 911 but once the police showed up she was gone. Now I got an nice 500 deductable and an truck that needs a new bumper. The best news is that I was not hurt. But I pray for that women. Not haveing the slightest feeling of responisblity to pay for her damages.

In S/Cal a lot of our visitors from the south do not join in on things like insurance or a license. You get to pay higher rates to cover them. It's only fare because they are looking for a new life and the rest of us have so much already. You can't expect them to be held to the same standards that people have to meet. You must be kind and let them go on their way. And don't try to stop that person that hit your car. If you touch them or raise your voice you could be in for a lot of trouble. If you have insurance then the accident is your fault. Just be happy if she did not suffer any physical injuries. Remember if you are a citizen or have insurance you are to blame.

Pablo I know you cant always tell by skin tone. But she had California plates.

Lonnie I doubt she was from Mexico. She was as white as a sheet. "And don't try to stop that person that hit your car. If you touch them or raise your voice you could be in for a lot of trouble. If you have insurance then the accident is your fault."

I tried to explan to my wife why I did not try and chase here down. But she was not hearing any of it.

Those who "run naked" come in all complexions these days. You can even drive stolen vehicles with impunity in metro areas. Expired tags ..expired inspections?? They're for the suckers with money where cops are bored.

If she was white, you should have shot her, or at least called OJ. Case closed.

Where is the juice when I need him?

I would be surprized if the Police are even trying to track her down.

I'm almost sure they won't try. My friend was rear-ended by a drunk three years ago. After giving a complete description of the person and vehicle, with plate number, the police did absolutely nothing. The officer sure wasn't living up to the "Protect and Serve" plastered on his cruiser.

It's a bad situation. You have my sympathy.

Surely you got her tag number. What else do you, your car insurance and the cops need?

No I don't. I was trying to avoid the accident. I only saw that there was California tags on the truck. But one thing that irks me is that the was more than half a dozen cars at the intersection saw the accident and no one offered any help.

Thanks. But don't get me wrong. After the thrid time of me explaining to the officer what happend he finally understood that the other driver failed to yield and was very polite. But there was and will not be a effort to look for the other truck. It is an unfortant situlation.

I know what at least one poster here will say and I could care less about her race, but did she have papers?

I know you 're just being funny ..but I have been hit twice in the last 3 years..one an uninsured Mexican..who lost the ability to speak english when the insurance investigator called, and the other a white Russian ( hey they otta name a drink that ) who had no insurance ..
heck I pay $9.00 a month to insure one of my motorcycles..and an additional $9.50 for the uninsured/underinsured driver nice huh

Cops are only interested in criminal things these days ..or so I reason. If there's no injury and it's just a situation of you paying $500 (or whatever) ..they've been conditioned to turn this into another socialized cost of driving. I don't even think that the insurance companies are really interested in stopping vehicle theft on a recover/investigation/enforcement type way. Now it seems that they figure that the manufacturers will engineer out all but the pro thefts.

Uninsured motorists and stolen vehicles. The legit society pays the price in a manner that doesn't seem so bad. Apparently the cost of enforcing/catching/investigating is just too much to handle with little productive yield.

So ..they throw in the towel.

welcome to the club! I was almost killed by a semitruck and not one car stopped to see if I was okay. if the semitruck didn't pull over and wait for police. I would have been screwed.

You are lucky. I had a guy that worked for me that was visting is his cousin out here. He was putting along when an 18 wheeler came into his lane crushed his passinger side of his nissan and kept going. Of course noone who witnessed it was any help. The CHP thought this was kind of a joke. It was pure luck that he did not have an passinger. His girlfriend was not feeling well that day.

You have a good point about the cops not being interested enough to aggressively pursue her capture.
It seems that for things like this, you have to hand them a list of positive witnesses, a clear video of the incident[preferably directed by Martin Scorsese], a signed confession, and hope it is not a relative or friend of theirs!
