Hit 100K on the way to Lake Havasu City to see my buddy. I know 100,000 miles isn't much, especially on a Corolla, but I'd like to share my thoughts anyways.

We bought the car in July '09 with 25K on it. Got a heck of a deal on it, $6000. It's the CE base model, no frills but does have a CD player and an aftermarket alarm. I've used it to go to LA twice, Tucson multiple times, Lake Havasu, and many other places. It was my courier car for a while.

We've done basic maintenance, tires, belt, brakes, spark plugs, and a battery since we've owned it; nothing else. Averages 30-38 mpg depending on driving habits/conditions. I've done mostly 5K Synthetic OCI's, which I know is overkill but works for me. I also change the ATF regularly, which I feel is important.

It's a commuter car, not real exciting but not terribly boring either. It does exactly what we need it to, which is commuting and getting good mileage (current commute is 145 miles/day for clinicals).

All in all, it's been a fantastic car. We need to keep it for at least 5 more years, then we'll trade/sell it. I'm guessing over 200K by then. All I can hope is that the next 100K is as trouble-free as the first.

Hey someone took a pic of my car 145,000 miles ago!

Same fill hole shot (and just as clean)

I run mine without the covers too.

Have you checked your speedo? Are you running 185 or 195 because mine turns a little over 3000 RPM at 80. I have verified mine and its off at 75 one mph.

Take care and you are right, 100k is nothing.

You have a great car there. I am almost to 137k in my 99 model and love the car. The Corollas are very dependable and durable vehicles. Oftentimes, they are labeled as bland and uninteresting, but they do what they were built for VERY well. They drive many miles with great reliability and low fuel consumption. I would buy another without hesitation!

Yours will be good for another 200K miles.

Congrats, in 199,999 more miles the odometer will stop working by default, just a heads up, but by reading your post, you wont have it anymore. BTW, at 3000 RPM I am doing 80 mph, auto trans.

Fixed in 2004 correct?

Ah I see. Mike has a auto and I've got the 5 speed so that could be it.

Take care, Bill

The odometer issue effects all 9th gen corollas, 1st gen Matrix's and vibes at 299,999 miles or kms. The only cure is to buy a used odometer and replace it when it stops, probably can get it accurate to a tenth of a mile or so during the replacement with careful planning.

I have 195 65 15 tires and compared to the GPS, the speedo under reports the speed by 1 mph, which I understand is common in the industry.

Thanks guys, I really do love this car.

Pat, yikes! Glad you fixed it though.

Corvette Owner, I know I could do 7500 on synthetic, but it's hard, I always get the itch!

I do 7-9k on conventional. Actually done over 11k once.

Waiting for the engine to die any second.

Take care and stay cool!
