So other than this, my car is perfect. No CEL or codes of any kind. But on the highway, if I push the gas pedal to a certain range (or if the cruise does it when going up a hill) it will start jerking, and stuttering. It loses power. If I floor it, it's fine. If I let off the gas, it's fine. It's a very narrow range of the throttle. It's almost like a really really bad misfire, but again no codes. Does anyone have any clue what this could be? New fuel filter.

I would really check for any vacuum, leaks, intake manifold leaks. make sure all the vacuum lines are routed correctly. spray carb cleaner around the base of the intake, throttle body ( but not so it gets sucked in the intake) and see if you get an rpm increase, if so thats where it leaks.

The only thing I can think of off hand is TPS or maybe the map sensor acting up, but usually they store codes. Are you sure it's not a transmission/TC issue? Is the ignition system, plugs etc in good shape? It's be good if you had a scanner to watch sensor values when the problem happens.

Wires are orignal, but Packard Wire and they are in good shape. Didn't do this before the HG job. Brand new plugs though. I suppose it could be a TCC problem, but it doesn't do it at any other speed when I would unlock the Torque Converter. I'll double check the vacuum lines, but since I replaced the UIM gasket, there is no more "Fast idle" code, or anything.

Check the egr valve, I used to have the same problem on my Saturn. I would remove it from the manifold and clean it with a brush and gumout and see what happens. It would only happen on a light throttle at around 46 mph. Also I would check under the hood at night to see if you have voltage leaks.

x2 honda v6's do the same.

If not a TPS or TCC problem the issue does sound like a lean cruise misfire (high vacuum, high ignition advance) which as mentioned the EGR could be at cause. You have the digital EGR right? I think you could unplug the connector temporary and see if the problem goes away or improves. You can also unplug the TCC at the transmission to eliminate that.

There is an EGR on the exhaust.... It was full of water. It sets on top of a water manifold for cooling, and we accidentally used the wrong gasket (same size, bolt patter, different internal divisions), so I wonder if maybe that killed it....

Although, from what I know, EGR problem will not lead to such a severe loss of power. My guess is on TPS. That part of the TPS wiper being the most used, starts getting flakey. If you recall your old transitor/radio volume controls, that is the exact same mechanism inside TPS.

Hopefully, it should be reasonably priced for your car.

P.S. I hope you are not running Bosch plugs etc. If so, all bets are off :-)

Or when you are at high vacuum, high ignition advance cruising I could see too much EGR causing a misfire. But you couldn't really say for sure from here. It's just something to check.
