I believe that a high level of MoDTC can make it difficult to pass the TEOST 33C deposit test.

How do we know that something called Bad [censored] Racing oil passed anything??

Trinuclear MoDTC at 80 ppm is more effective than dinuclear MoDTC at 200 ppm, for example. The old SN formula for Pennzoil conventional, Pennzoil High Mileage, and Quaker State Advanced Durability used dinuclear MoDTC. Don't let the number alone fool you.

Does Mobil use the Trinuclear? I've noticed Mobil's moly count tends be below 100 ppm compared to where Pennzoil/Quaker State Ultimate Durability tend to be well over 100

I wanted to note I did some research into the Liqui Moly MOS2. There are guys on Youtube who did some tests with small engines like a lawnmower and I saw one guy do a test with his BMW. The can of MOS2 had zero effects in their tests. So it looks like there is no immediate effect with the MOS2. However, there are Amazon reviews and reviews on here of MOS2 who insist their engine got smoother or stopped smoking etc as a result of MOS2.

So Im wondering what everyones experience is with it...does it work or not?

A lot of oil and car manufacturers does not recommend oil additives as they might affect the balance (don't know if it's the right word) of the oil.

Each oil formulation is carefully formulated and if there is no moly in the oil, it's because the formulation is different and doesn't require it.

Yes, Mobil 1 oils use trinuclear MoDTC.

It's called additive clash. When you introduce a foreign additive to a formulation of a different chemistry, you risk the additives fighting each other rather than doing their job.

There's a phenomenon that occurs with many users of different products: They spend (extra) money on something and have to justify it lest they seem silly or that they've wasted their money. Happens with all sorts of 'stuff'.

I've said this before when people here talking about making their own concoction of different brands of oils, including additives, mixing viscosities, and so on because they read stuff on the internet and now they're suddenly chemical and mechanical engineers who know better than those silly scientists at BP, Shell, and so on.
