high school locker fees

Good grief.. never heard of this. Seems like I can't go a day without wondering where our tax dollars actually go (actually I'm sure I have a good idea). If they do this when the boy gets older he's get a wheeled bag or the sorts. That is if he even goes to public school.

never had it in my high school, but then again it was a catholic school. we had to give them our locker combos though.

kinda miss high school, the only time i ever got in trouble the principal got a letter from the board of trustees to drop it or he would be job hunting. helps having friends in high places

My HS had more lockers than students, and removed the combination lock portions from the spares. I presume they were short on locks in other schools or whatever.

I picked out my own extra locker "off the books" and slapped my own padlock on it. Never got noticed, lock cut off, etc.

Yep,MCHS

We never had locker fees, in high or jr. high school.

the schools either need money to pay for something useless or the kids destroy the lockers and the fee is to offset the replacement cost. In high school when we returned our books at the end of the year, they would inspect them and charge people for excessive use. Some kids got dinged quite a bit, but I never did. Some kids thought it was funny to throw their books down the hallway:Funny until they had to pay for it, then it was hilarious.

I suppose childless taxpayers would gladly pay the school tax if the true costs of an ignorant society were apparant...

Isn't is apparent by the people who are elected to public offices? And childless people do pay for schools: It's called "TAXES"

The same argument could be extended to the health of the general population, but isn't....

And childless people paid taxes for them to go to school. The cost is socialized. One can't view it as "I have no kids, why do I pay taxes".

+1. I got tired of the chrap the local board tries to pull, so our kids are home schooled. both now are reading way above their grade level.
it's funny, my daughter missed the cutoff date for starting kindergarten by 8 days. the local school was willing to test her though. so to enter K, they tested her at a 1st grade level, and determined she was not eligible. right then I determined the local school was useless to me.
she was born sept '02, is now getting ready to start 2nd grade, and is reading above a 5th grade level.
