High RPM Oil Recommendation?

I operate my '06 Mitsubishi Ralliart at or near redline as often as I can, anytime, on the way to work or wherever. I also play at a couple simple track days and amateur dragstrip nights during the year.

The engine is 2.4 liter in-line four cylinder, normally aspirated, redline raised to 7500 by ecu reflash.

Question: what oil would you recommend for this sustained high rpm driving style?

Price doesn't matter. I'm asking because there is a lot of valuable experience on this board and I'd appreciate your input.

Unless you are dragging that thing every single weekend for hours on end, the Dominator is probably overkill. Even then, a drag run is less than 15 seconds of WOT, not 20 minutes straight like a track day.

I'll also assume this car is stock.

Are you looking for a 10w50 or 10w60 oil?

What are you using right now and what does the manual say?

Thank you all for the replies.

FYI, the powertrain is stock except for reflash and big intake pipe to stock airbox. I prefer handling mods.

Was using factory recommended 5W20 weight dino for a couple years, used 5W20 Castrol Edge last year. I have an oil temp gauge, noticed that Edge reduced operating temps by about 10 degrees (because of less friction I assume).

i would step up to a 10/30. at high rpms some spots in your engine will get extremely hot! hot enough to drop the 5/20 to sae 10.

i run 20w50 vr1 in my 7000 rpm 377

Unless you have a oil-pressure problem (lower than spec)
I'd suggest you continue with your fully synthetic 5w-20.
Unnecessarily thick stuff just create heat and rob power.

I use 0w30 A5/B5 in my r32 gt-r (twin turbo 400hp 8200 rpm)
and have done so for five years now. It's seen quite a few
track days and probably 200-300 drag races.
Engine has 340000 miles (210000 km) on it and still runs
like new with normal oil consumption: a quart every 5000 miles.

210000 km = 130516 miles sorry...

rogan, good advice and welcome to BITOG!

TheTTC, ("the better way"), also welcome to BITOG.

You didn't mention what you're maximum oil temp's are?
For street or strip use I'd recommend the very robust Idemitsu made Honda/Acura 0W-20; it's cheaper than Castrol EDGE 5W-20 and far superior. If you're not seeing ol temp's much above 105C it will be good for track use as well.

you should look for an oil with high zddp and high hths. Change it often. A mechanic once told me "engine life at redline is measured in minutes." Redline is very stout stuff and would be worth the price for you.
