High Mileage Oil? SuperTech or Castrol?

HM 10W40 or HDEO either one would work just what's cheapest.

Yes, Restorer MIGHT have slowed down consumption a bit. It's really hard for me to tell because there were too many other variables thrown in there (did i mix it with 20w50? did i add restore to the crankcase after the oil was already old and dilluted with unburnt fuel from blowby? i don't remember.).

But unfortunately it's rings. I've been over this before. If it were valves it would smoke at startup. And it really doesn't (except once but that was a whole different issue and i don't want to get into it)

What i'd really like is for someone to point me to a VOA for SuperTech High Mileage and i could compare it to Maxlife and Castrol High Mileage.

I don't belive there are any Supertech High Mileage VOA's yet,
but all HM additive packages are more beefed up than the regular conventional. You will be running right beside Castrol, Pennzoil etc.

Supertech High Mileage seems to be burning faster than Castrol High Mileage did.

This might be because of other variables. The july heat mgiht be causing me to burn oil quicker. I might be driving on longer trips. The supertech might have been a little thinner than the Castrol that i used. The condition of the piston rings might have worsened since i used the Castrol. (i hope that's not true!)

I'm real curious as too how much moly is in these high mileage oils. While BobisTheOilGuy dissapproves of 'restorer' & lucas he seems like to like moly in oil.

Supertech High Mileage is 'energy conserving'. Castrol High Mileage is not.
Just because an engine leask ull, doesn't mean the engine is tirea nd worn out in need of thicker oil to further hinder its optimum mechanical performance.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'energy conserving.' Do you mean it's thinnner and therefore gets better mpg?

Yes, generally speaking that is true. But my car has worn rings. It's been an oil burner since i got it 7 years ago.

My car burns 5w30 faster than gasoline

If i used the viscosity which honda recomended i'd soon be running with no oil and freeze the engine. Which wouldn't be optimum.
