high amp outlets

I am looking at a 50 amp outlet that will be surface mounted. Do any brands have a screw pushing on a plate to make the connection rather than just wrapping the wire around a screw. (Trying to find the same kind of connection thats in most circuit breakers these days).

If you want to spend the time you can crimp and solder ring terminals or lugs to the wire ends and put them under the screw. Surface area is the key to carrying heavy current. Sometimes a ring terminal might have to be trimmed a bit to fit. Why crimp AND solder? Crimping, especially stranded wire is a "hit or miss' sometimes. A really good crimper works well with solid wire. Avoid the two dollar Chinese crimpers. I've made several generator to house flex jumpers that way.

This will be solid wire running all of 2' from a branch box to an outlet next to branch box.

Have you looked at said outlets yet? They are much better built than the cheezy 120V/15A ones for normal household duty.

I have used the normal Levitron range & dryer outlets in the past. I was hoping to order something better from Amazon. I ordered a Pass & Seymour outlet today.

I don't know about the 50A outlet types, but on the regular 15A and 20A outlets, the "spec" grade outlets normally have the screw pushing on a plate.
