Hi i'm new here and need advice for what type of oil i should use and what brands. I have a 1990 Cavalier Z24 and its a modifed non-turbo engine. I just rebuilt it at 96,966. The engine looked dirtier on the outside more than it did on the inside.LOL Anyways i broke in the new cam with dino and it was okay and then put synthetic blend 5w30 in for a couple OCIs.i've noticed a couple leaks already somewhere in a tight spot. Its too early to AutoRX treat it so Do you guys think i should try ad thicker a blend and run extra additives in there or go back to dino?

The previous owner neglected the cooling system i think and the carlot i got it off of never said anything about it. lol. A week later i see coolant seeping out ofa freeze plug and above the exhaust manifold by the firewall.

I'd do the AutoRx, if that doesn't work you'll probably need to spend more on repairs. Run a dino of the appropriate vis and change at 3K.

Thanks...i should have sued them but it was a buy as is deal...lol I changed the Rear seal already i'm hoping not to have to do it again becouse the transmission is a pain to remove. I'm going with Havoline 5w30 in the winter and 10w30 in the summer with Purolator premium plus high performance filters for my oil filter relocation setup.

if he bought it "as is" aint nothing he can do. i helped my wife pay off a motor that tore up 1 week aftr she got it. after she went back on monday and signed away the extended warranty i fouhgt hard to get the whole time telling her not to get that car. we are just dating then not married. so after tearing it down the timing chain tensioner was broke and all the litklle pieces was cloggin up the inlet to the oil pump.
you want a thrill have a car miss firing at 115 MPH. everytime the rear would "wiggle" but that was when i was young and dumb. the car was gone before the motor was paid for. now when i test drive a vehicle it is ran very hard and 3 of the ones i've tried when you hold them wide open the check engine light will start winking at me. most people i dont think runs cars that hard and then the problems sneek up on'em.
