I cut this open and was very surprised, the can was very stiff, the spring was tight, the Filter Media was evenly spaced with no excess globs of Glue. The drain back valve held all of the oil. This stash is made in Poland. Sadly the production shifted to Mexico. The Car is rarely driven, I only had about 1500 miles on the oil and filter, however its been a year.

My bad the new ones are made in Mexico! You will not believe how much they mucked up this Filter.

Yeah, that is quite the difference! Mexico has not been real stellar in production but I have seen one Mexico made filter that was wire backed posted on here a while back. I forget what brand it was but it was excellent construction so some locations there can make a good filter. Thanks for posting the WCW comparison video. (y)

Nice thanks for sharing. I love a stout filter having a nitrile adbv.

What oil and filter went back in and on? Great pics and cut and post. Thank You

Hengst looks to be a quality made filter. I'm going to assume adbv is nitrile. Interesting the Mexico made added silicone adbv, but (like current Bosch Premium) potting job leaves much to be desired. Not idea what topic costs but be nice to have efficiency info with it.

Thanks for c&p.

Thanks for this. My current stash is made in Poland and the only dissection of the Polish H97W05 that I could find before was this video:

I was very pleased with the apparent quality especially at the price point. It's sad how sloppy the Made in Mexico one is in Whip City Wrencher's video...

I think I may switch to Denso 150-2003 when it's time for more filters.
