The trooper we bought has a replaceable fuel filter. I scored a Hengst one off eBay.

Got under the truck and it had a Hengst fuel filter on it already.

Got the old one off and it rattles. I cut it open.

The metal end cap came unglued from the element . It looks like it still filters thankfully.

Wonder why that would come off? Is it our gas attacking the glue maybe?

Now I'm 2nd guessing myself for putting the same brand back on.

I wouldn't worry about the filter you just put on. Without knowing how long the old filter has been on the car, it seems kind of hard to make any judgement as to the quality of the filter, or brand.

looks like the end that fell off was mostly cosmetic...odd Maybe fram was onto something gluing fiber together instead of metal endcaps 😂

Well, run another one & see what happens. Hengst is good quality. Any chance that previous installer may have pulled on the ends? I know that after some heat end caps don't seem to maintain their grip on the glue as well. I'd just keep trying and see what happens with the next Hengst. Good to note that it seemed to still function under the situation.
