I just rebuilt a small block Ford stroker, 347." I want to run it daily and sometimes hard at the dragstrip on the weekends. It will see as high as 6800rpm, hyd roller cam, EFI, 11:1 comp.
I am shopping for the most appropriate Schaeffer's oil. Why Schaeffer's? My machine shop just started carrying it. That led to me finding this awesome website. After doing some reading and research here I think the Schaeffer's looks to be promising. I am open to other brands, but can't afford Redline or Royal Purple (2 kids now). I will be running a Motorcraft or K&N oil filter.
My machine shop started selling Schaeffer's 20w-50 racing formula and 20w-50 Supreme7000. I am not sure if they are the same oil? I could not locate the part# on the bottles.
I have been reviewing most all related threads here concerning Schaeffer's motor oil, but am having a hard time finding info on the 20w-50.
I am thinking the 20w-50 may be too thick for my motor, which has fairly tight clearances.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Gary
