HELP!! Need something/someone to help organize my home shop

I have a very cluttered two bay shop and I just don't know where or really how to start. Crap everywhere. Wood working tools. Tables/Shelves/cabinets all over the place. Yes I get work done. Brute force, inefficient. But stupid. I made those shelves and other things

I just don't know where to start as corny as that sounds..........I can't lift more than 10 pounds until next month at the soonest. But any and all suggestions welcome. Persons, sites, whatever.............
Spread it out on the driveway, use a picnic table or two, clean everything out, then start putting everything back in in orderly fashion. Throw away everything and anything you don't need or it's trash. Or give it away (not the trash).

As soon as doc says I can lift! I had said the same to my wife. Just have my truck sitting there and any "recycle" stuff, throw in the truck

If you can, just to the light stuff. Even half a garage is better than no garage. Stuff piles up over the years, and there is never time for anything. I know how that is.

Perfectly normal - don’t worry about it …

I have a full shed with 52” Zero Turn. PW. All other outdoor stuff. Full. But yes I’m getting rid of two bikes and others maybe hang from wall in breezeway
Yep:
Mower shed
Garden shed
Pump shed
Wood shed
Boat shed
🔥 pit shed
Cook shed
Well, and two dog kennels that morphed into sheds 🙄

My shop is like that too. Plus I have 7 generators in it, a truck and a Jag, lathe, milling machine, etc. Crammed full.

Suggestion:

Get big strong bins that perfectly fit the shelving, I like the big black bins from Costco, Greenmade, 27 gal. Fill and label the bins with the tools and supplies and put the bins in the long way facing out. I put all my Dewalt stuff in one big drawer, for example. Power tools with cords in another. I don't keep the cardboard boxes.

This way, when I'm working on PVC, I pull out the PVC bin and the Gardening bin. Then put it back when done. Sadly, I have these bins stacked to the ceiling 3 rows deep in the center of the shop. Painting supplies, wax/car care, etc.

Wow, @Pablo! You have a lot of stuff.

I have an old saying that may help. "If I don't remember having it or if I can't find it" - get rid of it.

True story. I had a noise where I needed a mechanics stethoscope to help diagnose. I ordered a nice one from Amazon. After using it I went to put it in a toolbox drawer for similar tools - only to find an IDENTICAL one in the drawer, BNIB and never used.

@Pablo
I start with simple 5S (5S link). Think of it this way "everything has a place and everything is in its place". This is simple manufacturing tribology for many years now.

To get started, sort all the stuff out and decide what you need or don't need and go from there. It is amazing how overbearing it can get until you just start at it. We recently completed this in our garage so I can work on my Cobra. It is refreshing when it is done and the workspace is useable again.

I have seen a LOT worse. My back yard shop was a death trap for years. I am on orders from The Boss! Keep that front garage imaculate so we can park both vehicles inside. So I comply. ;) As much as possible. You are very organized at least it appears. :)

Still kinda reminds me of what my shop once looked like even with cars and boats inside!
Bottom line is , brother...... Some of us (me too) have to eventually learn to let go of things. I used to say "But, but I need all of it!?" NOT.

The wife calls me two things at times.
#1) Inspector Gadget: - Because I used to have or buy just about every new kind of tools or hardware you could find.
#2) Fred Sanford: - Junk collector since I once had pieces and parts left over of near everything I have ever worked on (just in case) I could use them again or on something else! I just finally got rid of left over Chevelle interior parts. Body trim etc....
Parts from my 1986 Ford Bronco I finally let go around 2008.

It does help that I have a nephew who lives close by and is one of those "jack of all trades" who has been helping me empty out the shop & garage. We still have a bunch to go but we are whittling it down a lot.

Good luck - Must learn to let go! LoL I know it is not easy.

One bike, one drill press and brewing equipment all now listed on Craigslist
LoL. Around 2015 it dawned on me.... I have all kinds of extra Chevy 1972 thru 1977 Malibu/Chevelle interior and trim parts plus 1980s GMC trucks parts that I started selling them on EBAY.
I ended up making a bunch of pocket - playing cash. I even bought a brand new set of 1980s era Bose speakers off EBAY for my man cave vintage stereo.
