Help! My bathroom drain is clogged

On a side note to this topic, does anyone perform routine steps to prevent clogs?
For example, do you do something once a year as a routine to prevent potential problems?

I just did my sink drain after 10 years of slow draining. I used to maintain it by bringing the garden hose inside and blasting away at the drain. This brought some relief. Last week it didn't. Plunging actually stopped it up completely. A closet auger cleaned it well. I also learned the clog was not hair, but a buildup of grease. Ideally, it should be cleaned out with a grease cutter end on the auger or professionally with a powered water jet head.

+1. My plumber told me to dump some Dawn Dish soap down at the same time as well to keep drains clean. Works well on the buildup.
