Help me with my detail kit, please!

I will make another thread in the photo section for the before/after shots once I get everything and have a go at it!

The two-step process you mentioned should work fine, but IIRC, the GM paints can sometimes be a bit on the harder side so it may take some effort to correct.

The Menzerna Power Finish product may be a good match for your polishing needs. It is a medium-cut polish that finishes LSP ready for most paints:

Menzerna Power Finish removed the holograms:

I already ordered a 5 inch Astro Pneumatic backing plate. Hopefully it will be better than the HF plate. The HF plate will be saved for a backup, or for doing non car related things with larger pads.

But now you are talking about *real* money! Seriously, still quite cheap compared to your original plan and you would be thrilled with the results.

I'm in this for about $120 so far. Not too shabby. It would have cost about that much to get one car detailed, and this way I have enough for the springtime also.

As a former detailer who used work a car dealership. To echo the advice that you may have heard on MOL use the lightest pad/
Liquid combo first to try to fix it.
But I would go M205 with a polishing pad on the trunk provided that you have primed it first with a little product on the face of the pad. Then use the M205 again with a finishing pad.Clean the polish off the panel and spray a little bit of Quick detailer on the car to get a little more shine out of the remaining polish that's on the pad.

Thanks for all the tips!

I did the Cruze's drivers side today, and it really popped once I was done!

Got the rest of the car today. Not absolute perfection, but pretty good for a first-timer using consumer-grade stuff.
