Can't decide between these 3 tires. All are priced w/in $5 of each other (235/55R17), and all look pretty good.

BFG Advantage T/A H-rated
General Altimax HP H-rated
Yokahama AVID ENVigor H-rated

I run dedicated winter tires on a different set of wheels Nov-Mar in PA, so snow performance is not important. looking for long life and great 3-season performance on dry and wet roads. My driving is about 80% highway.

Which would you choose? Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

I have used Yokohama AVID tires and they are good. Mileage could be better but, a very good tire, especially in rain and other slick surfaces except snow of course.

How do they rack up in terms of ratings at tirerack? Did tirerack do tests on all three? if so, what were the final scores?

I can vouch for the Generals. I got about 67,000 miles on a set right now. I'm almost to the wear bars. I would have gotten more mileage out of them if I had kept my alignment in check. Wear rate and ride comfort have been excellent. They have been harder than normal to keep balanced.

Not sure if I am going to get another set or not. Those new Goodyear Assurance Comfortreads sure look nice.

I bought a couple of sets of the Goodyear Integrity's and had seperation issues on all 8 tires. That was the reason I tried the made in the USA Yokohama's.

Have you considered the Cooper Touring? They are doing quite well on my wife's car. We get excellent traction in the rain and snow, very good gasmileage and they are wearing well. They also give a great ride.

I hated my Avid touring S that I have on the Yaris. The most loved tires seem to be: Hankook Ultima 727(?) and Toyo(?). Had bad BAD BAD luck with OEM port installed BGF touring T/A on a Subaru, OEM Brigestone Duellers, Sumitomo (?). Reasonable luck with FALKEN ZIEX 50 series(summer tyre). Mixed Reviews on the Pirelli P4: They were great on the 05 Toyota Rav-4 in 215-65-16" but terrible in 195-60-15 for the Yaris.

Thanks. Over the past 20 years, I've had 3 sets of BFG Radial T/A tires and, most recently, a set of Traction T/A tires. Never had an issue with any BFG tire.

I have Yokohama Touring-S on the wife's Impala. They have about 12k miles on them. They are *OK*, but not real good in the rain. This was my first set of Yokos, and I'm not overly impressed.

Tires will be for my '05 Colorado Crew Cab w/ ZQ8 sport suspension. I've been running Goodyear Triple Treads for the past few years and ~50k miles. They have been GREAT tires, but the price has really gone up on this size, so I am looking at alternatives.

What about the Toyo Versado CUV? Anyone using this yet? I've never had Toyo tires, or heard much about them.

Cooper CS4 looks like another great choice I should investigate. I used to run the old Futura (Cooper) Z-rated tires on my Mustang, and they were always good performers.

I would go for the Generals Altamax....I've had them on for two seasons (April through November)... and couldn't ask for a better tire. Great in both wet and dry conditions...wearing well....great cornering and a sporty feel.....and the price was right (had a $50 rebate).

If you drive like a normal person, meaning you drive within the speed limit, then the General's or the Yokahama's should be fine.

I have always thought of BFG's as being a performance tire. JMO

Good tire too.

Or the BFGs are nice too.

CS4s are a great tire in that size...

I have been running the Generals on a 06 Subaru Forester for two years. They can be balanced close enough to perfect that I can't feel any trace of tire vibration. Wear has been very even with rotation every 6k miles. After 26858 miles tread depth is 7/32.

The only downside to the Generals is that they ride noticibly harder than my snow tires. They weren't noticibly harder than the Oinkohamas that came on the car, however.

I would probably go with whichever I could get the cheapest.

I've never thought highly of General Tires, however, I've been running 215/70R15 Altimax Artics on standard "base model" Chevy Colorado 15x6.5" wheels this winter season and they've been great. Much better in all conditions than the Firestone Winterforce tires in the same size I used the last 2 winters.

BFGs seem more available in my area... Thinking I will go that way, or maybe try the Altimax HP. Thanks for all the comments.

Altimax HP - love them on my wife's Elantra, and will be next tires on the Tbird, too.
Their Arctic snows, which is on my Tbird, are also great
