help me choose tires!

Happy New Year! i always get great advice here.!
in Spring, i will get summer tires, now using bridgestone blinks.

car is 2008 Caddy DTS. original owner, 73,000 miles.

i want soft, comfortable ride. good handling. tire longevity not important. car driven daily to work, 35 mph, 7 miles to work. sometimes, take a 3 hour drive to vermont on highways at 65 mph. do not need a tire good at 100mph.

i want a high quality tire. i am not fixated on Michelin can be any brand!

would like any and all suggestions. willing to learn about tires.

Which size are your original equipment tires?

235/55-17
-or-
245/50-18

I don't know if you have 17 or 18 inch tires, but right I'm liking the Pirelli Cinturado P7. Good reviews on tire rack. I know many hate Goodyear, but they usually use softer rubber, doesn't last as long as others, but always liked the ride of them.
 
I run lots of Goodyear tires - assume 40k-50k on price point since I have too many nails in my life to ever get more. 😟

The General Altimax RT43 seems to be the very best value tire on the market today. It gets rave reviews everywhere. It is priced in the lower/middle range of the many choices you have available. It has good to excellent performance reviews: wet/dry/snow/comfort/noise. It simply seems to be the most tire per $ spent.

I bought mine during Black Friday weekend and just had them installed last week. Love them!

Grand Touring Summer seems like the best category for you. You don't need all-season or longevity but would like good handling and a nice ride. They are probably the quietest as well.

Michelin Primacy HP
Bridgestone Turanza ER300
Goodyear Excellence
Hankook Ventus Prime 2 (or 3)
Falken EcoRun ZE914

If price is important, there's also the Nexen Nfera SU1

grand touring summer seems best! i have a dedicated snow tire, bridgestone Blizzak, and a dedicated summer one. fewer compromises.

Agree on these too.

We had good luck on a set of P7 tires in the Caribbean, but have used primacy tires on our rabbit and now our Odyssey.

I just noted that the P7 in the OP size is made in Mexico. While I like that tire, given its new manufacturing location in this size at least, no thanks...
