Hey guys I hope you can help me choose a good oil from my new 95 Explorer with 93k on it. It was driven 5 or 6 times a week with weekly to monthly long highway drives in between short trips to the store and other places. Oil changes at 3k usually at the dealership with Motorcraft. I don't see any signs of sludge looking through the oil fill hole. Anyway I hope you guys can help me choose which of these oils would be best for this vehicle.
Halvoline 5W-30
GC 0W-30 (already have 5qts in my garage mix of gold and green)
Mobil 1 5W/10W 30
Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30
Here are the choices which one would you choose for this car? Any other suggestions? I have some LC should I use it with any of these oils? I'm planning on using an MC FL-1A filter regardless of which oil I go with. Thanks for the help guys.

Have a co worker who has a 90's Ford Explorer with a V-6 with 300,000 miles on it. I asked him what he used oil wise and was told it's only had Motorcraft 5w-30 since it was brand new.

Castrol GTX High Mileage 5w30.

I know it's not on your list, but that's my suggestion.

So should I use a dino oil like Motorcraft or Castrol changed at 3k-5k versus using a synthentic changed at 8k-10k for this vehicle. Is there anything else I should know about these engines?

Motorcraft is a Syn Blend. Shouldn't be any sludge or much varnish build up in the engine if that's all that's been in it.

I'd stick with that or go with Havoline. Maybe make a mix of Havoline and GC, run it 5,000 miles.

My Uncles 1993 has about 180k on it. He has changed the oil every 4-5k with Valvoline or Quaker State 10w-30 and it's clean and runs great.

Any good oil will do you fine!
