Unless your donor car is running with no oil filter, the oil you drain from the pan is already filtered. Right?

True, just make sure the drain pan is very clean, and the used oil doesnt get contaminated before going into the next engine.

I had a neighbor who wanted my used oil for his olf Mazda RX-3 that burned oil like crazy.

Well, shoot. I can just pick it up off the shelf!
Unfortunately, I lost all of my waste oil in the garage flood

Just fill the cat litter container and let it sit a few days. All the big stuff will sink and you can pour off the "clean" oil and add it to the truck. The truck's filter will catch anything else, and it will only circulate for a few hundred miles before it leaks out.
