My 6.9L Ford pickup uses a water filter and a fuel filter. The water filter was a very common problem. So mine has been bypassed.

This is the fuel filter that screws onto the mount.

I need to find a fuel filter thats also a water filter that will screw onto my filter mount.

I actully bought an aftermarket filter mount and a fuel/water filter today but theres no room anywhere to put the thing.

Not sure what you are asking. You can get a 33811 Wix fuel filter on Amazon for $10. Its just a spin on with no water drain.

Maybe you are looking for something like this?

Its not the right size, but an idea of what is out there. Can't you go to Ford and get what you need? Otherwise look at Donaldson fuel filters for heavy equipment and maybe you will see the right size.

Racor makes ones that they use on boats.

I'm not sure your going to have much luck since all of the water sep filters i have seen don't get close to the original filters filtration. best i have seen on a water sep is 10 micron. Usually because there is a secondary/final filter after it.

whats wrong with your water separator?

The oe water seperator goes bad and allows air to enter the fuel system. A new one is very pricy. I wonder what effect that 3337 would have on the pump and injectors?

That would be Donaldson"s P550811. it is a nominal (50%) 3 micron filter. I don't have the rest of the numbers, but that means it is probably about 10 absolute.

It is a 7/8"-14 thread, which makes is sort of rare. Water separators are not very effective with low sulfur fuel, since the lubricity additives used to replace the sulfur absorb the water and take it through the separator. Only the free water is able to coalesce. Also ineffective in bio-diesel mixes as the ethanol also absorbs water.

Today I put the Water filter on. Even if it's not very effective as Widman states I still feel better knowing that it's on there.

I have the same basic setup on my Peterbilt and it seems to catch water so hopefully my new filter is better than nothing.

I ended up mounting it to the lower side of the Radiator fan shroud. This was the best place I could find for it.

The fuel comes from the tank, goes through the lift pump, through the water trap then the original fuel filter and into the injection pump.

So far it seems to run fine. Hopefully having 2 filters inline isn't too restrictive.

Here it is looking up from the ground.
