Hello E15, how are you?

Boy, I'm glad we don't have any of this corn lobby, E85, E15 etc... stuff going on up here.

Our fuel contains "up to 10% ethanol" and, for now at least, I have at least one E0 option in my area. Never seen an E85 pump in Canada. E10 is bad enough.

A bit off-topic, but taking a drive through Michigan this part weekend I saw most of the corn completely harvested. In years' past I'd often see the corn stay much longer, sometimes throughout the winter before it's harvested. I'm not sure why it wasn't harvested immediately in the past... either waiting for the best market conditions or leaving some of it to attract deer during hunting season.

Usually corn is left on the stalk until it matures, then dries as much as possible. The farmer wants a dry kernal because the price per ton is based on the tested moisture content, and lower moisture means a better price.

Fuel taxes are based on gallons not energy content.

Therefore - a decrease in energy density yields more fuel tax.

If they were really concerned about efficiency we would just write the farmers and agribusinesses a check.
