After searching late last night, here is what i am leaning towards:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X75...KGGMP7&th=1

have greater than 3500 lumens per light, are cree LED spot, and are rectangular as i was hoping to get.

only question is their quality.

they are ip67 and not ip68 rated which will not matter much to me as i will not submerge in water, but we can get a lot of rain in the spring and snow in the winter.

If color rendition index is important to you, LED may have a deficiency in comparison to halogen. Beam pattern is also an area where they may not measure up.

Despite the higher pricing the Hella driving lights the OP posted have been tried and tested to be of a certain performance standard..which is why they are still sold today. Marshal and Cibie also stock and sell the older school halogen lamps for the same reasons. Its not always about the lumens.

The Hella 550 line up is a little larger but has a better performance:

There are also the round series that is less expensive:

They are all made by the same company, but the ones I bought are great quality IMO. They held up fine to rain and I submerged them more than a few times. Unfortunately, I lost one after the most recent aquatic adventure

thanks all.

i have ordered the above for now, if they don't work out, i will move them to my son's truck and try something else!

I think you will be amazed, with roughly 10,000 lumens per pair, it will light up the next county. Come back and give us an update!

i got them installed yesterday, it's like going from the dark to day light. my son said to me "how have you been getting along with out them?" LOL

one adjustment on vertical each and that is set, as i drive them home tonight I'll decide whether a horizontal adjustment is needed or not.

It is. In fact it is the only bulb. The DRL, Low Beam and High Beam are all from the same bulb.
